Hayes made throwing the ball away look easy today.

When he bobbled the ball the other day but just barely got the guy at 1B, the announcers didn't mention the bobble but told us Hayes always knows exactly how much time he has to make the throw. Today when he threw the ball away, Capps said Hayes didn't realize how much time he had.

Hayes knows he has a great arm from 3B and thinks he can make strong throws but needs to use is brain to know not to hurry a throw that leads to an error and a run scoring.

I just think it's funny that when he bobbled a ball it's because he knew how much time he had to make the throw but when he made a bad throw it's because he didn't know how much time he had.

The Pirates have invested a lot of PR and money in Hayes to promote him as a franchise cornerstone. It must be part of the announcers' jobs to always spin Hayes in the most favorable light.
