I'm sure that deal was made before the draft. The Rangers only didn't have many high picks as they lost 2 of them to FA signing. Rocker wasn't going until that late part of round 1 , so a good deal for both sides. The Rangers now have money to pay over slot for a couple of mid round picks.

It gives Texas the top two pitchers from last year's draft on their team. Amazing (and always my dream - you see so many good players, the reaction is to say I'd like that one . . . and that one! And Texas did it.

Not being one that follows amateur baseball, my only evaluation of the draft is when the national pundits don't criticize or question picks.

Seems GMBC is doing a smash up job then. Let's just hope he's right on a good number of these picks.

After the first round I am not familiar with many of the other players. I like the pick of Johnson, but I am not sure if the remaining picks will have as much excitement than the players chosen last year. After reading some of the player profiles from this draft they appear to be good choices by the Pirates. Time will tell if this draft was successful.

This draft IMO was not the A+ draft that BC pulled off last year.
To me only Temarr Johnson, Harrington and Kennedy were good picks. BC passed over Brock Porter, Snelling and Jackson Ferris some of these multiple times. Whatever was saved by not selecting those players did not seem worth the low value of the later round picks. We were slotted 4 picks in the first 100 and ended up with 4 top 100 prospects but I think we could have easily netted 6 top 100 prospects. I guess we will see when the signings and dollars are announced

As some have written, they saved money on Henry Davis last year, so they could draft other top tier players. I think it will take most of the slotted amount to sign Johnson which is fine by me because I think he is a much better choice than some of the other projected choices by MLB, ESPN, CBS Sports, etc.

5th LHP in 11 rounds.

Lots of guys yesterday who will go under slot. Reading that it may take a lot to get Kennedy.

6 in 13 now.

Wonder if we are going to see another HS long-shot fairly soon.

7 in 14.

Cimillo the 16th round choice may be an interesting pick. Appears he has had a successful college career. I guess there was some discussion he would enter the draft last year. He could be a player to follow.
