Maybe everyone else already knows - Chavis was a Cherington #1 pick in 2014.
He's another of these bizarre utility cases: played over half his minor league innings at third, but has hardly played it in the majors, hardly played first or second in the minors, but played most of his major league innings at those positions.

That's interesting! So BC would have known all the scouting info on him.

Chavis seems to be good defensively and has some pop. Looks like he has plate discipline issues, he doesn't walk much and strikes out a lot. 1 walk and 32 strikeouts in 79 at bats this season.
Who knows why and maybe change of scenery, new coaches can help him offensively.

Maybe the Cubs will screw up their rebuild and stay behind the Pirates for a decade or three.

Same as what happened to all the other teams in the division- that large market Milwaukee Brewers team happened.
