There very well would be insurrection with the Yankees. The players would've stopped listening to him months ago. They may have even taken over making out the daily line-ups. They'd never have close to the amount of wins they have now if they didn't.
I have no doubt the Pirates would have more wins, and the players be further along in their development, if Bob Boone were the manager.
IF somehow the Yankees are eliminated early, Boone
could be available
If he came here it would be to prove to another GM, who one day needs a manager, that he can win even under the worst circumstances.

Going to the Pirates to prove you can win is a bad career move.

Normally, I’d agree. But if Boone assesses that the Pirates are on the verge of winning in the next couple of years because of the influx of good young players, he might be willing to come here and ride that wave. And then get out when those guys leave as they near free agency because he knows, like we do, that Nutting won’t keep them.

Andujar is paying dividends already. That Cherington is a shrewd operator

In regard to his predecessor, in todays PG, Joe Starkey said that
Huntington steered the Pirate ship into an iceberg following their last playoff run

Andujar currently has no hits in his last ten at bats, but since coming to Pittsburgh he has 5 rbi. Possibly he, Cruz and Reynolds could each drive in 75 to 100 rbi next season. If they would add a first baseman with some power that could be an interesting lineup along with players like Castro, Bae, Hayes, and Suwinski.

That would require people reaching base ahead of them. They're going to have to improve their NL worst team OBP.

that is for sure, this year's team couldn't get hits and doesn't walk much either. Not a good combination.

Here's an idea, let's sign Josh Bell, Jameson Taillon, and Andrew McCutcheon.
