Quintana to the Cubs

Eloy is very much a prospect.  Not really sure about Cease, I think he's maybe had injury issues?  He's a 21 year old putting up strong numbers in Low-A. To put that in perspective, Keller dominated low-a just after turning 20.
Cease is also a top prospect. But all 4 are still in A-ball. A lot can happen between there and the majors.

But at the same time, hats off to the White Sox for sticking to their demands on a potential Q return.

Value wise? Less than. Quintana is under control forever.

Please correct me if I have Quintana wrong here, but if he is a #3 at his best and Cole is an Ace at his best, I'll take Cole.

Might have Cole wrong.

Quintana has club options, but can be a free agent in 2021. Cole is under control and can't be a free agent until 2020.

The difference is you know Quintana's cost to that point. Who knows what Cole will get in arbitration: Does arbitration put Cole over $12 million in 2018 and 2019?

Quintana is a strong #2. He pitches 200+ innings every year, and puts up numbers comparable to Cole. Quintana is left handed. In short, Quintana is a better value than Cole.

Overall stats would have Cole being the better pitcher. They are pretty even with a little edge going to Cole.

(I don't know how to figure in the DH in the AL)

I would agree, after a rough start to the season he is now pitching up to his norms. I would've loved to had him.

Do we think this is enough to stir the Cubs out of their lethargy? Has the feel of a preemptive strike.

When does Hendricks come back? Or does this mean he is further away than they thought?
