Accdg. to rumors (said over the air by Greg Brown) he has been fired by Jeetah and the Marlins. Bring him back?

My first reaction was like yours. My second was that I wondered if there was some sort of power struggle between he and Searage, with the whole "Vice President of Pitching Operations" and all that. My third reaction was to realize that I don't really know what Jim Benedict actually did around here.
Still I'd make the phone call.

I'm glad you brought that up. Any contract negotiation with Benedict will have to assure him that our own Sammy Khalifa will have no say in Benedict's role with the Pirates.
And I hope this doesn't mean we have to give Trevor Williams back (who leads the team in ERA).

OMG, that last comment ... puts things into perspective.

Besides Benedict being let go ,the Fish also fired two more FO executives who left the Bucs a few years ago namely Mike Berger, and Marc DelPiano. I wonder if any of the three executives could return to the Pirates FO.

What would happen with the people who were promoted to take the positions of those people when they left?

I think we should sign 2-3 good players.

Were they actually replaced? It's so easy to make up titles when promoting someone.

What was the outlook on Benedict's work in FLA? It's not like the Marlins were lighting it up. I know it's not the be-all and end-all of the work of a "Vice President of Pitching Operations" (???), but the major league club had a team whip of 1.4.
