Regardless, he was ranked highly as a prospect by every major national publication out there. If this was some grand conspiracy by Pirates ownership, then Jonathan Mayo, Buster Olney, MLB.com, Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, everyone was in on it.

Glasnow has been a disappointment thus far, but I actually have a lot of hope for him in 2018. But, that's beside the point. The Pirates need to tear the whole thing down and start over. However, I'm not sure that will do any good as long as Bob Nutting remains the majority owner. Put any GM in the front office. Put any manager on the bench. Give me the very best coaches MLB has to offer. This team still isn't going anywhere, because at the end of the day, the only thing that will matter to this ownership group is the bottom line.

I'm so fed up with this team...

the hype part comes in because of how the team prepared for the season. If management didn't expect Glasnow to come in and be a very good pitcher then it is more of an indictment for how it approached both the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Even though the 2017 starting rotation ended up being pretty good, it was not close to what would have happened if Cole would have been better (say ERA around 3) and if Glasnow had come in with an ERA of 3.50ish.

I don't blame Glasnow at all. Geez, I blame NH. They pushed him into a role that he wasn't prepared for, what don't you get! It was the FO that failed to acquire enough starting pitchers and put a young inconsistent player in a role he wasn't ready to succeed in. Sure Glasnow is young and could still turn into a great pitcher.

I don't think the Pirates hyped Glasnow like they did to other players. And no way would I put blame on a 23 year old.

What I (and suspect others) know to be 100% true:

1. Dogknot has started multiple defenses of the Pirates with the following lines

“NH just said.....”

or

“Didn’t you hear when NH said.....”

2. Dogknot clearly bought into and perpetuated the hype about Glasnow. It was part of his defense for the Pirates starting the 2016 season with a questionable starting rotation. He claimed it would not be wise to acquire or spend for better pitchers as both Taillon and Glasnow would be up in June.

Theses are facts. Dogknot will claim otherwise as it’s his thing. But I know differently.

You don't get it.  Dog is Neal or Nutting.  It's the only conclusion one can make with regards to a very good portion of his posts. He doesn't criticize management at all.

I thought you were done replying to my posts? Or was it that I'm not allowed to reply to yours? I forget.

I certainly didn't want Glasnow in the rotation to start the 2017 season. I was against that move. I have never linked Taillon and Glasnow together.

I've been critical of Huntington lately. I'm not happy with his moves the last two years. Just because I understand them doesn't mean I was happy. I realize that is hard for you and others to understand.

I've been critical of Huntington's drafting. I even started a thread back in June (Impact Rookies) about that topic. Then you write some long thread about it. Ha ha. You also agreed with me in that thread. Ha ha.

You don't have to acknowledge me in any thread. You and your groupies don't have to agree either. I just don't know why you and your groupies feel you have to go out of your way to insult me? Does that make you feel better? One more thing, how come you don't blast the people that agree with me? Someone always agrees with me. (Sorry, IABuc, I hope you don't get bullied like I do by agreeing with me)

Well that's all I can stands. I can't stands no more! Look Dog, I've been in the music business for more than 40 years, and I know groupies. No one on this board has the hair or wardrobe that would qualify them to be groupies. So in the future please refrain from using technical terms that you aren't familiar with. Thank you.

Sorry Quail, no offense. I just mean in casual conversation, to mean a particular kind of fan assumed to be more interested in me than in the Pirates. Is there a term for those people in the message board world?

The answer to that question can only be adequately addressed by someone with a much higher pay grade than mine, but I'm fond of terms like "skeptic" or "critical thinker".

Honestly Dog, I'm not an advocate of "group think" mentality, but surely you realize your views have become a lightning rod for poster's with opposing viewpoints. There are reasons for that which I don't wish to get into, but I would humbly suggest that self-reflection is good for greater understanding of why others react to you in the way that they do.

Part of the reason I come hard at you is because your opinions and views of this organization are way over the top.  You overrate players ... you think this team can be competitive for whatever reason by bringing in veteran relievers and you think good free agents would sign here, like Moustakas.  You make a comment that his stock is dropping because he doesn't have an offer.  How do you know?  Does this mean Hosmer doesn't have an offer because he hasn't signed, nor JD Martinez?

I'm still waiting on you to answer the last time this organization signed a relevant free agent coming off a career year.

I have a strong interest in this organization.  It dates back a while.  I have seen good, and terrible.  The terrible lasted 22 years.  The good absent the B-VS-B years, has been three.  This organization has a tremendous history and loyal fans, but they deserve much better than what they are getting.  The owner suck and the GM is lousy.  But yet, you think we are close.  You open the door for responses.  We all want a winner.  Most of us know reality when it hits them in the face though.

I'm not opposed to differing opinions. I'm opposed to outlandish opinions that aren't close to being realistic.

I always have a reason for my thoughts or opinions. Just because you think they are outlandish it's ok for the attacks? Someone always agrees with me too. I think more agree with my views but are afraid of the attacks. I never make blanket statements.

You lose track of your original thought when you always disagree with me. I even broke down your ideas on what Cole is worth. Why did your opinion change? Because someone posted an article and agreed with me? It's sad and comical watching the attacks stop when someone agrees with me. My personal inbox fills up at times with laughter too.

Disagree all you want. Just know why you are disagreeing. I have said over and over why I think a few additions could get the Pirates in competition again. Maybe try to understand instead of just disagreeing because of who posted the opinion.
