The Giants have gold glove caliber defenders through the entire infield but yeah Shelty let's try and trick them. Ran us right out of the inning

Mr. Rodgers would not be happy. It's not a beautiful day in the neighborhood. :-/

I kind of feel Shelty cost us this one. The botched run down play. And if keller was that tenuous dont send him out to start the inning.

well we only scored one run. Even then the Giants second run may not have scored without Holmes wild pitch.

It makes no sense that a run scoring on a wild pitch is an earned run. That's the rule but I don't see the logic in it.

I wondered the same thing. The only rationale I could think is that the wild pitch is in essence a pitcher's error, so he should bear the statistical brunt of the error. Of course, in this case he didn't as it wasn't his runner.

that is my understanding, it is the pitchers fault by throwing a bad pitch so it is earned, passed ball is unearned.
If pitcher makes a fielding error it is unearned.
I wonder if anyone has lost the ERA title on a wild pitch?
