Thank goodness Hurdle had the good sense to start Jaso (4 hits on the season) over Osuna (4 hits last night).

Bucs playing some great defense behind Nova. Gift in the middle infield has really solidified our infield defense. And J-Hay looks much better at third than he has at second. Two really great plays tonight.

Obviously Hurdle benched Osuna for not hitting the HR Jaso provided tonight.

Nova with a 95-pitch Maddox. Wow, not sure I enjoying watching anything more than a pitcher who is that efficient for a full 9 innings. He was crazy good tonight -- and the defense was really good as well.

Can't say enough about Nova. Two CGs in 5 starts. Hasn't pitched less than 6 innings in any start. 1 walk in 36 innings. 1.50 ERA.

I suspect that had it been 3-0 rather than 4-0 Hurdle would have given Watson a save opp in the 9th as Hurdle is married to the formula. But that essentially tells the starter that the mgr trusts the closer to get thru the 9th more than he trusts the starter. Letting the starter get those last 3 outs is a confidence builder and can only help in future games. So for whatever reason Hurdle left Nova in there, kudos!

At that pitch count, I like to think that Hurdle would have let Nova finish the game but I get where you are coming from. Nova has been amazing. I didn't really like that trade but trading for him and resigning him was a great move.
