Unless this team loses 95 plus games in back to back seasons, Neal isn't going anywhere.
If you're saying this team can be good next year with just a few simple moves that don't require big spending, why would Nutting fire NH?
I'm not just saying it. I guarantee it. Kang and Marte back. Add a 15 million starter and a 15 million OF. Done.
$15M starter = Liriano. $15M OFer = Cutch. Done. Playoffs, here we come. ::)
Cynical nonsense. Don't add because you might add poorly. Exactly the scardy-cat garbage I was talking about
What do you need? More money? A 20 million player then? What the **** does it take to wake some of you people up to actually supporting DOING SOMETHING instead of nothing?

It's not that fans don't want the Pirates to make the moves that you and everyone else knows could make a big difference. It's that after years of watching how this organization operates, most have a realistic (and depressing) expectation regarding moves they are actually likely or unlikely to make.

We have to understand that under Nutting, we have two basic rules:
1. The Pirates will be run as a profitable business
2. Winning will improve the bottom line so winning is desirable
Both rules always apply. Nutting wants to win. BUT, rule #2 will NEVER outrank rule #1.

Exactly! They want to win but only if it can be done on minimal spending (by MLB standards). Remember when a few years ago Coonelly said spending would increase when the time was right? It never happened. In fact, they reduced payroll when the 98-win team just fell short. They no longer mention increased spending. Now all they talk about is financial flexibility and how they need to move contracts to add contracts.

Keep McCutchen.
Sign/Trade for the next Burnett, Volquez, Liriano, Worley, Nova...like they always have done.

At least that's doing something. I would prefer that to selling off. There's a lot of FA starting pitching out there.
We have one of the best minor league systems in baseball right? So we would have all kinds of trade bait options too. right?

You want what I was begging for three years ago. "FINISH THE TEAM", shouted into the wind for all it mattered. It was so obvious then, a WS team was missing about one piece - finish the team! "No, we're a 98 win team, what more do you want?" A finished team. The best team we could put on the field within our legitimate means. That's what I wanted and still want.
It didn't happen then, it's not happening now. It doesn't matter that its obvious to you or me or anyone else. What COULD be, what SHOULD be is simply not happening.
So we can sit here and do nothing, and then there will be nothing left. I'd love for Nutting to suddenly finish the team, but short of that, salvage some value.

Are you someway related to Beaver Falls' own "Broadway Joe" Namath? Must be making a statement like that!

I love the plan and the optimism!! Now who do we get to hold the gun to Nutting's head to make it happen?
