Marte hasn't played since he was hit by a pitch in Pittsburgh.

With the exception of last night, the Mets have missed his bat.

A Chavis single cuts the lead in half. 2-1 Mets through five.

Mets stretch lead back to two, 3-1, with an Alonso sac fly. Onto the 7th.

Wow. What should have been back-to-back errors by Cruz. Charged with the first when he took his eye off the ball and it hit him in the chest. Then overran a popup and wasn't charged with an E. A good example of why fielding pct is essentially meaningless. The popup should have been caught but that is not an error reflected in his fielding pct.

He’s making a case to be the answer to the team’s first base problem.

A Heinemen single and a Cruz missile make it a one run game.  4-3 Mets, top of the 8th.

WE are ripping him defensively which he deserves. However

he just hit a bomb ( of course no one on). #16 for Cruz. He can always DH but hate to waste that arm.

This may have been mentioned before; but Cruz has the highest exit velocities in MLB for the following:

1) Batted ball

2) Throw to first

3) Bat slipping out of the hands

It's not as bad as all that. He has some issues at SS but he would probably make an outstanding 1Bman or outfielder.
