Vida Blue passes away

Blue was 73. Of course, we all know he's the answer to an awesome trivia question, "Who was the last switch hitter to win the AL MVP award?". Blue won the MVP in 1971, and the DH wouldn't come to use for two more years. Blue was a switch hitter, another rare oddity for a pitcher.

I remember how exciting he was to see, which wasn’t often back in those days of limited television. And that name was so unique. Tied to his skills, it made him magical. RIP, Vida.

There wasn't a thing that I didn't like about those Oakland A's teams, and Vida Blue was one of the reasons for it.
