Not your usual Sunday lineup for the Bucs. Shelty must have grown a little bit of a brain last night due to the short flight to San Fran after the game.

Owens and Hedges in the lineup at the same time….ouch

Could be another offensive challenge.

Three batters, 3 outs, 2 K for the Bucs. They would strike out using a kids wiffle ball bat. >:(

I know Hayes is a gold glove caliber 3B, but outside of his first month in the majors he has not hit squat!

The Pirates gave him a long term contract (probably a mistake).

Can’t have a low average 3B with little power.

If Malcolm Nunez continues to show power and average st AAA, I would explore trading Hayes

So far, Ortiz’s outing has been the opposite as his previous one. He’s thrown a lot of pitches, more than half of them balls.

I must have some mystical powers. As soon as I wrote that Ortiz was struggling to throw strikes, he filled up the zone.

It's not just a lack of power. It's an overall lack of hitting. He's currently at .225 and 2 HRs. Last year he was .244 and 7 HRs. in 2021 he was .257 and 6 HRs. He had the impressive but brief beginning to his career in 2020 but since then he has hit .245. He's just a weak hitter.

Bucs down on five pitches in the 4th. Do they not know that the plane will wait for them?

The whole team is weak. This has the feeling of a classic Pirates game that ends like 3-1 or something. They'll get the tying run on in the 8th or 9th, maybe both, but no one will be able to get him in. Same script, different day. We've seen this show before.
