1-10 RISP

Unearned run deciding factor.

37 year old Cutch has driven in 5 of their last 6 runs.

Once again a leadoff double isn't even moved to third.

De la Cruz has been the offensive equivalent of Jack Suwinski. Would not surprise me to see him moved in the off-season if he doesn't pick it up.

Wasted effort by Woodford.

Tellez doesn't drive anyone in anymore.

We need Cruz and Reynolds to be the best versions of themselves.

Another 1 run loss

Nutting needs to come to his senses and shit can his entire management staff from Travis Williams down to the manager and coaches after the season ends. He will need to search diligently for a GM who will restock the Bucs with good players including finding and developing Latin American talent. Unfortunately for me, I will never see another WS winner in my lifetime. My only hope is that Surg's some Mr. Man will get to experience a WS winner.

I agree Possum, but I don’t know if Nutting cares enough to do that. This has been the most obviously mismanaged team in recent memory. Cherington supplemented the weak 2023 team by adding notoriously poor hitters, a starting pitcher who missed most of last year with an arm injury (and did the same this year) and another who lost his starting role last year due to ineffectiveness.

They routinely fielded lineups at least half of which were not expected to hit. They left players in the majors who should be in the minors and players in the minors who should be in the majors. They emphasize resting players over trying to win. They steadfastly stick to pitching formulas regardless of whether they work or not. The players demonstrate poor fundamentals and no one is held accountable. The manager has no answers and wouldn’t seem to recognize one if it hit him in the face. They have too little talent, yet make no attempt to get the most out of what they have. This combination of inadequacies demonstrates to the fans a lack of effort to make the team better. I guess we’ll see in the off-season whether Nutting cares. Sadly, I think we know the answer.

I don't disagree even a little bit, Possum. But until Nutting completely changes his priorities regarding winning on the field versus maximizing profits, the Pirates will very likely never reach the World Series. The organization is rotten throughout, beginning with the head.
