No Michael Taylor? Two days in a row, just because a RHP. Suwinski needs to start earning his starts. Taylor certainly has. He has twice the RBI total Suwinski has in two less at bats, and hitting from the ninth spot in the order to boot.

I have to laugh Surg when I see you post your dislike for Suwinski. No way Nutting cuts him and his MLBMS.

I know he hasn’t been in the big leagues for long but I can’t wait for the day when Cruz is moved off of the shortstop position. He displayed again today the very reason why. Not only did he not position himself correctly to catch Suwinski’s throw to avoid the short hop but, once he bobbled it, he initially made a lazy attempt to retrieve the ball, which allowed Mountcastle just enough time to move over to third. He reminds me of Cole Tucker in that being cool is most important.

I know nothing of his work ethic in preparing for both the games and the season but I see him as a lazy player on the field. Derek Jeter was not a great fielding shortstop but he anticipated where he should be and then he hustled to get there. Cruz has enormous potential but he’ll never reach it because he doesn’t care enough. He doesn’t deserve to play such an important position.
