Same ol Shelton
I don’t know why he insists on putting so many back up players in the lineup on Sundays. How about trying to sweep a series?

Re: Sunday lineups
On the lineup I've seen two starters are sitting, one of which is the catcher who I'm surprised hasn't sat out a game before today.
Edit: oh I see, I wasn't looking at positions. Still most regulars seem to be in.

Re: Sunday lineups
Other than Williams for Cruz, it doesn't seem too strange. Catchers often sit on Sundays. Taylor is out but Suwinski isn't a bad sub for him. Although Cutch rested yesterday so he could have played. They signed Tellez to play 1B so that's not weird. I just don't like Williams starting for Cruz. I think Cherington has a big say in the lineups and Shelton is onboard with whatever his GM wants. That has become pretty normal in MLB these days.

I was also considering the fact that Falter is pitching and will most likely need all the offense that can be mustered

I don't know if the 1927 Yankees could give Falter all the runs he'll need.JollyRoger8 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 5:50 pm I was also considering the fact that Falter is pitching and will most likely need all the offense that can be mustered

So glad the Pirates won today, but I have seen enough of Bailey Falter. If the rotation stays as is, his next turn will be Saturday. Those Baltimore hitters will probably have a feast with him pitching.Bobster wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 6:00 pmI don't know if the 1927 Yankees could give Falter all the runs he'll need.JollyRoger8 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 5:50 pm I was also considering the fact that Falter is pitching and will most likely need all the offense that can be mustered

I’d like to think it was just one bad game for Falter. But he had a miserable spring. A 7.88 ERA IN Grapefruit League games and then he begins the season in the same fashion. He should not have made the team in the first place. Ortiz is probably a better option to start.fjk090852-7 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:35 pmSo glad the Pirates won today, but I have seen enough of Bailey Falter. So far Ortiz has looked excellent when coming out of bullpen. If they cut ties with Falter, Priester pitched at Indy today so he lines up with Falters spot in the rotation.Bobster wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 1:32 amI’d like to think it was just one bad game for Falter.
