Don't ask me why I went down this rabbit hole but I did.

I noticed that (duh!) John Jaso's BABIP was insanely bad.  .336 in 2015 to .314 to .170.  He's still walking about the same.  So is he just unlucky or is he toast?  I don't know, but it made me find this pretty cool site about launch angles and exit velocity.

looking around the 40 degree mark it looks like he's hitting more popups for outs.

And there you go.  Hope you enjoyed, haha.

Without looking at all the charts and graphs , I can tell you this... he pops up and hits 3 hoppers to the right side. He's not unlucky , his problem is major league fielders make those plays .

Don't look now, and I know he's become persona non grata in these parts, but John Jaso has an .800 OPS during the month of May, and in the last two weeks has put up an OBP up over .430.

He has played well, at the plate and base paths. He is about to pass McCutchen in batting average and has a higher OPS on the season.

So --- are you suggesting that Jaso should now be our starting centerfielder? :)

No, but he should play next to him for the time being.

Jaso is a decent bat. I thought he would eventually pull his numbers up. He will be fine.

His BABIP is now up to .250 (compared to career .296).  Maybe there was something to him being unlucky after all, and people can stop throwing rotten fruit.

only thing I know is; watching him field the ball in right field is like doing a self inflicted root canal. keep asking myself "Why"? painful to watch, same feeling I used to get watching Pedro play the field. Torture!
