Who is the #18 prospect for 2018

Post by psuinpgh21 »

Kyle "Turtle" Crick takes the #17 spot. Lots of others got votes, so this round should be interesting. Crick probably will lose his prospect status early in the season. Adding a guy who has a good chance of losing his prospect status, Chris Bostick. Didn't realize he was as young as he is.

the results so far:

1. Mitch Keller, 21, SP, AA (88% of the vote)

2. Austin Meadows, 22, OF, AAA (also 88% of the vote)

3. Shane Baz, 18, SP, Rookie league (34.1%)

4. Cole Tucker, 21, SS, AA (53.7%)

5. Colin Moran, 24, 3B, AAA/MLB (as placed by previous poll)

6. Ke'Bryan Hayes, 20, 3B, A+ (52.8% in #5 poll)

7. Kevin Newman, 24, SS, AAA (34.1% in #6 poll)

8. Taylor Hearn, 23, SP, A+ (40% in #7 poll)

9. Bryan Reynolds, 22, OF, A+ (40.9%)

10. Jordan Luplow, 24, OF, AAA/MLB (51.1%)

11. Max Moroff, 24, IF, MLB (27.3%)

12. Nick Kingham, 26, SP, AAA (28.1%)

13. Kevin Kramer, 24, 2B, AA, (52.1%)

14. Luis Escobar, 21, SP, A (33.3%)

15. Kevin "Lolo" Sanchez, 18, OF, R (46.2%)

16. Will Craig, 23, 1B, AA (20%)

17. Kyle Crick, 25, RP, MLB/AAA (26.7%)

Crick must have been one of the most patience-inducing prospects in the Giant’s system. His minor league stats at AA are Nuke Laloosh like:

ERA WHIP BB/9 K/9

2014 3.79 1.54 6.1 11.1

2015 3.29 1.79 9.4 10.4

2016 5.04 1.62 5.5 7.1

If I didn’t err, he played three complete seasons in AA. That's like repeating 4th grade a couple times. Other than being a 1st round pick I don’t know his backstory, but he obviously went through some kind of overhaul between 2015 and 2016. Hopefully, he is on the right path now.

Well I erred on the highlight. Crick averaged 9.4 walks per nine innings in 2015.

I like Crick's stuff. I'm hoping good things from him.

I think Jason Martin (from Houston) is getting way overlooked. He hit .280 with 18 HRs and an OPS at .820 last year splitting the season between A and AA. If he was in the Pirates system last year, he'd be a top 10 prospect. I think he was around 15 in the Astros system. He should be higher here.

I really don't know much about him but what bothers me is Houston didn't protect him in the expansion draft. He did have 300 Ab's in AA so, you wouldn't think if teams thought that much of him , it would be that unusual for someone to claim him ?
