2-0 good guys after the top of the first. I love scoring in the top of the first. It's a big advantage when you're the road team. According to Fangraphs, I believe the Bucs went from having a 47% chance to win today's game to a 64% chance to win, thanks to scoring two quick runs.

If you've never checked them out, Fangraph's game scores are pretty cool.

Off topic a bit, but I just heard Yadier Molina took a foul tip to the groin yesterday, had emergency surgery last night, and will be out a month. Tough position those catchers play.

Polanco is giving new meaning to the term "number 2 hitter."

Bell with a big HR. It was needed for him with Osuna waiting for a phone call. I can't see the Pirates keeping Osuna down much longer. (Polanco better be aware too.)

Kingham would be the one I would expect to go down. I did wonder if Kuhl had extra motivation to pitch well today, since it wouldn't be impossible for Kingham to replace a current starter.

One thing we keep seeing about this team so far is even though they have some frustrating series they always seem to come back like they  have last week with the 5-1 week and the sweep of the Cards and then this series with the Brewers this weekend and take 2 of 3. After today 11 of the Pirates next 14 games are against the White Sox, Padres, and the Reds 3 of the worst teams in baseball. The Pirates have played well within the division and against the bad teams in the league so far. Keep that going the next 2-3 weeks and you’re going to find yourself still in a pretty good place in the standings as we approach Memorial Day.
