Time To Consider Making A Couple Bench Moves

I think it is time to send to AAA Evans and Nogowski, and bring up Chavis, and purchase the contract of Alford. I would not have a problem if they even designated both Evans and Nogowski. It appears neither has a future with the Pirates. In the past I have been optimistic about both these players, but I think both are good teammates, but their production is not MLB caliber.

Jason Mackey is reporting that Alford is on his way to Cincinnati. He should arrive this afternoon.

Interesting. And overdue. This might be the end of the line for Evans.

Yes somebody must have to go on 26 man and 40 man roster.

I can see Evans being gone but Tom should be considered too.

Both are poor defensively (although Evans is more versatile) neither can hit. At least Evans has shown a little power.

But Tom is on the IL. If he gets released to add Alford to the 40, someone else has to be optioned or DFA'd to add Alford to the 26. If they were satisfied with Evans in LF until Gamel returns, they wouldn't need Alford. So I think Evans is the likely one to go since that would open a spot on both the 40 and the 26.

Tom? Evans? Nogowski? Any of them can be sent packing and it wouldn't matter, but we all know who the best guy to release is.

Releasing Joe Block doesn't open a spot on the 4-man nor on the 26 man roster.
