I just read this story about the Cardinals and the firing of Mike Shildt. This is a very detailed and insightful look at the Cardinal’s power structure and philosophy. Like all organizations, the Cardinals have problems....but they have a plan.

I was thinking that Cherington should be offering Shelton, the most perfect go-along guy in the world since Pence.

But, that would mean that we'd need to find another one who would agree to go along with BOB and Ben.

So much for my idea.

Interesting read. Reinforces my thought that Cora constantly sending people was a decision from higher up. Of course, sending Moran time after time might have been his subtle way of saying he had his own ideas.

Cora was praised for his work with the infielders. So it would appear he was fired for being a bad 3B coach. I heard somewhere that the Pirates led MLB with 19 players out at the plate. If those bad decisions were a directive from higher up it's doubtful he would have been fired for it. Of course we never know what goes on behind the scenes.

And....he was hired by someone other than Ben Cherington.  When everything other than Reynolds fails, and it did- get your own man.

A legit and reasonable point. I guess when you're the new guy in charge you can either clean house when you first take over or give the leftovers from the pervious regime a chance to convince you they belong. He gave Cora 2 years but leading MLB in getting guys thrown out at home is a deal breaker.

The Cardinal Way is garbage. Their fans are also the worst in sports.

There you go. We had it backwards. Should be "One man's treasure is another man's garbage." ;)
