Saw a terrible call last night in the Phillies -Mets game. Can't remember the umps name. Very tall hispanic guy with glasses. Called Cutch out for running out of the baseline going to second. They showed it over and over. When Cutch vehemently argues( which he seldom does) you know he has a good case. Harper who wasn't playing got tossed. Cutch was even drawing a line in the dirt. For some reason, this isn't reviewable. It could have been a turning point because the Phils lost 5-4.

The box score said that the umpire at 2nd base last night was Jose Navas. McCutchen ran in the dirt portion of the infield the entire way from 1st to 2nd. He had established his base line running to 2nd and never really waivered from it. Lindor never got close enough to make McCutchen even avoid his tag attempt.



Navas didn't call McCutchen out until after he slid into the base, unnecessarily I might add. I wonder if Navas called him out because McCutchen slid wide of the base, which a runner can't do in order to interfere with the infielder making a throw to 1st. But there was no fielder making a throw so, if that was why he called him out, it was a terrible ruling.

Looks like the Braves are going to drop to 4 games under 500 with a loss to Toronto.

With runners at 2nd and 3rd and the pitcher batting, the catcher chased down the wild pitch and threw to the plate where the pitcher was covering as the runner from 3B was scoring. The pitcher couldn't handle the throw and it bounced away toward the dugout as the other runner scored while they were chasing down the ball.
