The Pirates and Rangers tussle for the 3rd and 4th spots. The Rangers have a one game lead on the Bucs, as the Pirates have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games and 13-13 in their last 26 to move out of the third spot into 4th.
Cardinals widen Wildcard lead. Always seem to get it done

Except, that even they go through their dry spells.  I wish that we had "dry spells" like theirs.  ;)

People sometimes forget that they had a three-year drought- 2016 through 2018.  That shows how hard it is.  Even the best have their times when some other team(s) have that little more.  It takes us three years just to see what the heck we have.  ;)

Probably a meaningless stat.  In their 116-year history, they've not made the playoffs 86 times.  Of course, some of that has to do with the different playoff structures over the many decades.

We've gone from one league playoff represntative to two, then a Wild Card team in the league, then two Wild Card teams to lastyear's adjustment because of the Covid-related shortened season.  Those are all within our lifetimes.

They seem to be one of those organizations that's almost always within sniffing distance of getting in.

Flipped over to FOX, Phillies and Mets on. Harper up with two on top of the 7th, they showed a stat that 76% of his HR's are solo shots, the highest number of any active player with at least 30 HR's.

Wow!

Speaking of Harper, in that AB, John Smoltz said that the Mets pitcher won't be able to get Harper out the way he pitched Segura. During the AB he mentioned he hadn't thrown any offspeed stuff when the count went to 3-2, and said if he didn't change the location, Harper will make him pay.

Harper cleared the bases with a double on the next pitch

Brewers clinch a playoff spot, no mention of it on the mlb home page. The Brewers didn't celebrate either, just the normal lineup after a victory. Word has it they're saving it up for winning the division, their magic number is 3.

That's very true. I remember this coming up earlier in the season. The hosts on MLBNR brought it up a few times. He went a while into the season before it became less than 100%. Of course, they brought it up the next day, too.

Saw some video this morning of Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis arguing in the Padres dugout during their game with St. Louis last night.  Machado yelled at him a few times that "it's not about you".  That's precious coming from him.

So he wasted a pitch? What a slacker.
