With all we’ve heard about the good progress of Peguero and Cruz, maybe BC felt he had the SS position covered. With no potential big league catchers in the system, it makes sense to draft Davis. If he’s legit, he’ll get to Pittsburgh faster and will fill a position of need capably when the club should be ready to win.
