One question though - what would you do with teams that have relocated through the years? for example, the Dodgers - would you have 2 teams? one from Brooklyn and one from LA?

The Athletics would be interesting, having played in 3 separate cities (although the KC version would stink, or they would be version 2 of the Yankees), Same with the Braves, although the Boston version was dreck, for the most part.

How about the brewers and Astros? 2 teams that switched leagues? something to ponder

Good point, but it might be best to do it by franchise. To me, the Dodgers are still the Dodgers regardless of where they've played.

This could be fun. We all have more time on our hands now and this could be a distraction some of us need. We all love the game, and know a lot about its history, but there's still so much more to discover. The discussions could really be enlightening.

Anyone who wants to join in, pick a franchise and let us know who you think are the best players at each position. If you want to include an entire starting rotation, or just keep it to the best RH and LH starting pitchers, have at it.

I think you'd have to go by franchise since they took the players with them when they moved.

Ok Doc you have appointed to start a series of polls to determine the Pirates All-time team. You can go it much like we do the Prospects Poll.

As for other teams what say to guys to starting with teams from the NL Central Division?

Good idea.  I jumped the gun by choosing the Senators/Twins, wanting to give others a chance to take on the franchises more familiar to Pirates fans.  Starting with the NL Central, then moving onto the rest of the NL, is probably the best way.
