They're 10-1 when scoring 4 runs.

They have lost every single game they haven't scored 4 runs

Knapp taking responsibility, he said he was chirping at the third base umpire after the check swing call didn't go the Pirates way.

Reynolds-Hayes-Vogelbach-Chavis-VanMeter went a stellar 1-19.

At least we have Tucker to beat up on.

Sorry but the ump didn’t cost us the game

When you have bases loaded no outs in a tie game in the 8th inning and not one of your 3-5 hitters can put a ball in play then you deserve to lose the game. Especially against the Reds

I just realized why the HP umpire was so awful in game 1. It was Detective Frank Drebin in disguise. At least the queen remained safe in the Queen City.

In 1983 the Orioles ran into a situation where they were out of catchers and utility infielder Lenn Sakata was the emergency catcher. Sakata made his one and only appearance behind the plate in the top of the 10th against the Blue Jays. In addition, the Orioles ran out of infielders. So OFer John Lowenstein went to 2B and OFer Gary Roenicke went to 3B.

After a leadoff homer by Cliff Johnson and a single by Barry Bonnell, the Orioles brought in LHP Tippy Martinez, trailing 4-3. Bonnell knew he had an easy SB against Sakata and got a very big lead off 1B. Martinez threw to Eddie Murray and picked off Bonnell. But Martinez then walked Dave Collins. Collins knew he had an easy SB against Sakata and got a very big lead off 1B. Martinez threw to Eddie Murray and picked off Collins. But Martinez then gave up a single to Willie Upshaw. Upshaw knew he had an easy SB against Sakata and got a very big lead off 1B. Martinez threw to Eddie Murray and picked off Upshaw. 3 batters reached 1B. 3 batters were picked off.

Cal Ripken led off the bottom of the 10th with a game tying HR. Then after 2 walks, Sakata, who was never a power hitter, hit a 3-run walk-off HR. You can't make this stuff up.

After the game, Martinez was asked about the pickoffs. He joked that with Sakata behind the plate, Lowenstein at 2B and Roenicke at 3B, he kept throwing to 1B because Murray was the only person he recognized. :)
