Whoa, Tampa signs a one year $25 million contract. I guess the Pirates won’t be using the Rays as the model anymore. What excuse will Nutting cook up now?

Thanks Bobster- except for that one spurt, it didn't seem they

had that many
They are 18th of 30 MLB teams in HRs so not far from the middle of the pack. But they are 29th in hits. They just don't get enough men on base for the HRs to produce more runs. As a result, they are 28th in runs.

Perusing mlb.com, I see that the Phillies traded for a Jays minor league pitcher and will be adding him to the major league roster. I thought trades after the Deadline were no longer permitted, or does that just apply to major league players?

Just for major leaguers Doc. The pitcher in question was going to opt out of his minor league deal so they traded him beforehand.

I guess that is why no one has a big RBI total. That and the fact that Shelton continues to rest people
