This is the time of year when buyers are forced to overpay (the seller's motto - 'where there's desperation, there's profit'). I don't see management emptying the farm system to pick up even a few good players. Here's an interesting take on the Pirates as "light" sellers, from an Atlanta viewpoint. Something to consider? https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/co ... 5254&ei=11
It's really sad the Pirates are known as an irrelevant team that gets ride of its top players. The article discusses which Pirates the Braves would like to acquire.

And what's particularly sad is that a player like Joe, one of our main guys, would just be a fill-in role player for the Braves. When the teams are on the same field the talent gap becomes so evident.

If the Pirates don’t make some type of move soon they won’t have to worry about being buyers at the trade deadline. The offense needs a lot of help. The last two games that Skenes has pitched he has given up one run in each, for a no decision and they lost both of them. That is a sign of a bad team.

It’s because they’re a bad team that they won’t be buyers at the Deadline. Bob Nutting was blowing smoke up our skirts last week with his disingenuous “message” to BC about improving the offense. It was never going to happen, whether the team won games or not. He’s happy as can be that the team is losing because it means he can dump some salary instead of acquiring a player who would increase his measly payroll. Making/saving money are always the priority.

Hmm? There are like five good teams and five bad teams. All the others teams are moreorless like the Pirates. All of those teams want things from one of the five bad teams.
