I have very few positive things to say about the people running baseball.

If Rob Manfred can come up with something to ruin the game, rest assured, he will.

Tuned in to the All Star game just as Bednar came in. I thought he looked strong last night. He threw a couple sharp curves and some nasty splitters. He just appeared to have a lot of snap to his pitches in general.

In the Blue Jays 28-5 win over Boston last night, Ramel Tapia hit an inside the park grand slam when the CF didn't see his routine fly ball.

So the Red Sox gave up more than 20 runs in a game. I guess it happens to other teams, too.

We thought we had it bad. Toronto 28 runs on 29 hits. I wonder

if this is some kind of record.?

The record is 30 runs scored by the Rangers about 15 years ago. Three other teams have scored 29 in a single game.

The record is 30 runs scored by the Rangers about 15 years ago.  Three other teams have scored 29 in a single game.
Rangers beat the Orioles 30-3 on 8/22/07. Rangers needed a 6-run 9th to hit 30 and got it. It was game 1 of a D/H. Rangers won 2nd game 9-7. All 30 runs were against actual pitchers. So Orioles pitchers gave up 39 runs in the D/H. A few days later they gave up 11 and 15 runs in consecutive games. In a span of 7 games from August 22-28, they gave up 85 runs. A few days later on Sept 1, they lost 10-0. Then on Sept 5 they lost 17-2. On Sept 11-12 they lost 10-5 and 18-6. And there were 3 more games in September where they gave up double-digit runs.

Their pitching coach was Leo Mazzone, who was a coaching guru when he had Glavine, Maddux and Smoltz in Atlanta. Wasn't so easy with Baltimore's staff.
