Bucs are signing Michael Taylor.
4 million is more than I expected for someone who signs this late. Still, his defense should help the club.

I'm guessing Moreta goes on the 60 day to make room.

Earlier this offseason I thought possibly the Pirates would sign him, and now this late into ST I am surprised they pursued him. I would think this signing will probably send Palacios to Indy. Also any of the non roster position players will probably not join the team when it breaks camp in less than two weeks away. Prior to this signing I was wondering if McKinney was going to make the team since he has had a decent spring. I think his chances are rather slim after bringing Taylor on board.

I think Taylor is a much better signing than Tommy Pham. He may not hit as well but I’m okay with that because of his glove. Besides, he’s younger which means if he has a decent season, he might be worth keeping at the deadline and even offering him an extension. The youngsters need a few suitable veterans to meld with the young guys and he just might fill that role.
I wonder if BC made this acquisition because Oliveras has been disappointing.

Cannot completely confirm but there is a report the Bucs have signed Domingo German for $1.5 million. Have not seen anything yet from Post Gazettes Jason Mackey. Mackey is now reporting it is a minor league deal.

From what I have been reading, Taylor seems to be an upgrade especially defensively and has shown he
has power

Not sure what others think, but these 2 signings has given me more confidence about the Pirates upcoming season. With the young players like Skenes and Jones, and then you include Lauer, German, and possibly even Anderson to the existing group this team won’t be playing the final two months of the season with only two starting pitchers. Taylor has improved the outfield defense tremendously. If the Pirates can avoid a devastating injury like last season’s injury to Cruz, they are going to be playing meaningful games late this season.

After reading about German's off field problems ( assaulting his girlfriend, Being intoxicated and fighting with coaches etc.)
I will be anxious to read what Surg has to say!!
