That's shooting fish in a barrel kind of accomplishment. And it was done on the back of a guy HE didnt draft. Budget or not everyone knows he hit the lottery with Burnett Liriano having the kind of seasons they did. Sorry the man accomplished nothing.

If you were someone else, I would easily place a wager with you on this, and I would win it.

But, I have reasons for not wanting to do so.

So, Liriano and Burnett, flew into Greater Pitt, bought uniforms on their own.....and, played for the Pirates?

Despite what he accomplished, I think he will always be defined by that horrible, franchise damaging trade. I think a team would have a hard time selling such a hire to its fan base, which would be less impressed with him ending a 20 year losing streak than by what he did afterwards. No other team needs a GM to come in and end a 20 year losing streak. That's not going to resonate with other franchises. They just don't want what happened afterwards to the Pirates on his watch to happen to them.

Yes, I know you and Shed have now moved on to defending NH, because you have to to be able to bash the new guy.

I'd make a bet with you, but you whine so constantly about it, it's pointless.

No shit captain obvious, he brought them in. He had no idea they would perform at Cy Young caliber ability. If you believe that, I have some bridges in Pittsburgh to sell you.

Marte, McCutchen, Walker were all mainstays he didn't draft. Pedro had his best year, Burnett and Liriano had their best years after many of futility, Morton started to have some success, and he got lucky with Grilli. He had a period of moves where all those guys had their best seasons all at the same time.

Where'd that get them? Oh yeah, you now crowing about him ending the streak. Funny, when the topic shifts, it's all about championships or nothing. You don't even watch.

The hypocrisy is strong with this one Obi.

My guess is that he'll take another role first, then go from there.

The Pirates were as sad an organization that has ever existed. He brought the team from there. His fate was established by a bad, bad gamble.

His Get Out Of Jail Card has BOB Nutting's name on it.

And....this is the USA. People get second chances, more often than not.

Bob Nutting does not provide Get Out Of Jail Free cards. At 17 cents a card, it's not in the budget. ;)

Another No-Hitter last night. Spencer Turnbull of the Tigers. Seems like they are getting common place. No wonder they are talking about moving the mound back. Any thoughts?

With the game the way it is, everyone swinging for the fences or walking or striking out, no-hitters are going to start becoming as common as these games where teams are combining for 8 HR's.

Mike Trout got hurt. Out 6-8 weeks with a calf injury.

That's a shame about Trout. I am trying to remember. Has he ever played in the post season?
