If you're not sure where you stand, just do what the majority of people do online. You know, the people that used to be fans of the Pirates and are now fans of Neal Huntington and Bob Nutting.

What they do, is just wait until Huntington makes his personnel moves and then say those were the right moves. If NH trades for Quintana, they cheer and say things like:

"Wow! I knew NH would trade our top prospects and get the big time starter we need in Quintana!"

And if NH doesn't make the Quintana deal they say things like:

"Wow! I'm just glad NH didn't trade away our prospects! We don't really need a starter like Quintana because we have so many interesting options like Baurault and Trevor Williams!!"

Everything NH does is perfect. The results don't matter.

The Yankees apparently have backed away from Quintana. Here's a note from mlbtr (from an interview on the YES Network by Jack Curry) --

"Chicago’s asking price is simply too high, says Cashman, with Curry reporting that the rebuilding South Siders are seeking “at least 3 elite prospects” in return for the talented southpaw."

I have a feeling, the longer this drags out, if Pittsburgh is still interested, they very well could get him. Quintana does nothing for the CWS now that they have purged the team.

I can certainly see the logic of that (delay working in Pirates favor). I suppose the Sox could decide to hold him for the trade deadline, but then they risk injury, bad season, etc. I would just hope that we don't see Glasnow, Bell, Meadows, etc., headed off to the Sox. It would have to be a reasonable price.

Sounds to me like white Sox need to lower their expectations

Probably. But, there certainly is no pressing need for them to move him. He's under team control for four years, so if they can't get a deal done now, they can revisit it at the deadline, next offseason, next trade deadline, 2018 offseason, etcetera for three and a half years. Honestly, I think their ask is fair. What if we were looking to trade Cole? Personally, I think Cole will have the better career, but to this point, Quintana has arguably been better. And we rightly be ready to burn PNC to the ground if Cole were given away for a couple of B prospects. And I think Cole has one less year of team control left.

Personally I think it is time for the Bucs to move on from this deal. ChiSox want too much in terms of prospects. If they want Glasnow that is the only one of the top guys I trade. I know it is the long term future for winning now but such is the business of baseball these days.

No guarantee that Glasnow is going to be light out right away or maybe ever. Really good no doubt about it. Who is to say that Quintana screws up his arm the first ST game he pitches for the Bucs and is out for the year and perhaps declines really fast due to the injury.

Good and bad outcomes could happen for each team. NH has to realize that buy giving away too much for Quintana he is messing with the long term future of the team if Quintana bombs.

I saw that the White Sox are asking for three top prospects. Did they even get that for Sales?

I can see this dying down and picking back up closer to the start of the season.

The Mariners just picked up Smyly for pocket change. He would have been an interesting pickup, but I also saw in one of the writeups that his ground ball rate was 31%. Not a fit for this staff.
