Maybe Gallo can revive his career somewhere else but going to the Yankees may have killed it. He never hit for average but had a career best .253 in 2019. His 2nd best is .209. But he hit HRs and walked a lot. At the time of the trade last year he was hitting .223 for Texas with a OBP of .379. But he completely failed with NY. For the remainder of 2021 he hit .160 and his OBP fell to .303. So his combined BA for last year was only .199. This year he's hitting .161 and walking less often for a OBP of .285. Only 12 HRs and striking out in 45% of his ABs. At this point he won't even have much trade value. NY would probably have to pay most of the remainder of his 10.2 million salary for this year to trade him and he's a free agent next year.

Watch him end up in Cinci or Milwaukee and club 20 HRs the rest of the way, half of those against you-know-who.

So Quintana's going against the Phils, and there's at least some rumbling the Phils are interested in him. If they do like him, it would seem advantageous to keep him off the mound tonight instead of waiting through the weekend. Miguel Yajure is probable for Indy tonight in Toledo, and TBD goes for Altoona at Bowie. The Phils are slated to throw Bailey Falters, apparently a different guy from the one who used to be on WKRP.

think this is an easy one. He becomes a free agent and the Pirates would probably not be able to sign him. GMs know this and probably don't want to give up much

Why rush? Either get what you want or don't trade him. Plus team sometimes get desperate/stupid at the last minute (see Archer, Chris).

Personally, if they can't trade Quintana, I would try to resign him for next season, simply to mentor the kids in the rotation. He can also be a mentor to all the Latin kids on the team. Teaching them what it means to be a MLB player.
