On Pirates Pitching Coach Search

BC and KS are indeed thinking outside of the usual Pirates box this time around.
I wonder since many coaches are already under contract for the upcoming season that it might be difficult to get them out from under their current contract to sign with Pittsburgh. There could be multiple reasons as to why they have not yet hired a pitching coach, but I figured one would be hired during the Winter Meetings.

If so, now all we need are good pitchers.

Jason Mackey is reporting that Oscar Marin is to be named the pitching coach. Mackey has been right on with all the management positions this Fall so I would say Marin is the new coach.

Marin Excited for Opportunity

I like what I hear from him and his and now the team's plans for the pitchers. A good read.

I like that he doesn't have a set pitching philosophy. It appears that there was a bit too much of that under Searage.
