Doc wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2023 10:35 pm I read in the paper today that they want to look at Triolo at 1B but they’ve had trouble finding the opportunities. Opportunities? He could’ve been playing there everyday for the past four weeks. It’s not like he’d have been blocking Matt Olson.
Exactly Doc, but Triolo has no adequate power to play a corner infield spot.
Then why would they say they want to take a look at him at 1B? I’m okay with it if he can contribute but, if they don’t think he has the bat for either 1B or 3B, why would they even bother with him at all? It just seems like they neither have a plan nor know what they’re doing with some of these players.
That concerns me too. They don't seem to know what to do with Davis, Gonzales, Trilo and even Andujar. Peguero is a SS but usually plays 2B so that Williams, who would seem to have no future with the team, plays SS. Rivas doesn't look like a keeper but plays a lot. Capra takes up space for no apparent reason. The organization banks on player development for any chance of future success. But their handling of players does not inspire confidence.

Bucs again load the bases with two outs but come up empty. Still 2-0 Bucs through four.

I thought the second half of this year was going to be dedicated to getting the players we know to be the future lots of at bats in order to be better prepared for 2024. Instead, it’s more like extended Spring Training, where guys who will spend all their professional years in the minor leagues are getting playing time (at the expense of the guys who need it). You mentioned the main suspects. It’s very disappointing and, frankly, inexcusable. Organizations that want to win wouldn’t do this.

An Endy double and singles by Palacios and Andujar get the Bucs a third run.

Suwinski called out on strikes on a pitch out of the strike zone. Bucs lead 4-1 after five.

Falter retires the side in order in the 6th. Great job by him tonight, in less than 70 pitches. 4-1 Bucs
