Official Game Thread - 8/24 - Bucs vs Cubs

Post by Possum »

Cubs

2B Nico Hoerner R
SS D. Swanson R
LF Ian Happ S
CF C. Bellinger L
DH Seiya Suzuki R
C Yan Gomes R
1B J. Candelario S
3B N. Madrigal R
RF M. Tauchman L
SP Justin Steele L

Bucs

3B K. Hayes R
DH B. Reynolds S
RF Connor Joe R
LF J. Palacios L
C E. Rodriguez S
2B Vinny Capra R
1B A. Rivas L
SS A. Williams R
CF Ji Hwan Bae L
SP Rob Zastryzny L

What the heck? Shelty must have some sort of brain disease batting Bae 9th instead of Hayes who should be moved down 5th inserting McCutcheon in as the DH so Reynolds can play LF. Peguero should be at 2B and Joe in RF.

I'll let Dave get his 2 cents worth in as the first reply.
Let's Go Bucs

While I recognize that the Pirates have no shot of making the play-offs, when I see a line-up like this it is obvious that winning is not a priority.

sometimes winning gets in the way of a great plan.

PErhaps BC wants to have another good chance in the draft lottery.

Is Steele an opener for the Cubs? Surprised that Palacios is starting against a lefty and hitting 4th, not to mention Rivas starting too.

This may very well be the worst lineup posted this year.
There is no sense in even tuning in to watch this game.
It would be blue moon event if the Pirates were to win this game

I very seldom criticize a starting lineup except when Endy
is not playing. However, this lineup is BS. Capra has no future with the Bucs.
Williams, while being good defensively, has no future there unless they move
Cruz to First Base. This is two days in a row that Peguero is not starting. ???
Cutch who has been hitting much better lately gets a day off. Bae should be at 2nd
Reynolds in Left ands Palacios in CF. That being said, watch Capra go 3-4 and Williams
makes some dazzling plays at SS. Seriously, I repeat, BS lineup

Looking at all the empty seats, the fans must have aseen the lineup and decided

More proof that I am out of touch. I didn't realize Steele was pitching this well this year. Actually makes the Bucs line up even worse. I wonder if any players or sick or is this a just blame Shelton and managment lineup.

I also don't see the point of having an opener and only expecting to get one inning from him.

It just seems like an inefficient way of using pitchers. You may plan on having someone go 4 or 5 innings later, but why not just start that pitcher instead?

Bae continues to come up with important hits. He’s actually been better than I imagined he could be over the past few weeks. 3-1 Cubs after two.
