I rarely find something to like about Shelton's managing, but I like that he has used only 2 pitchers in a bullpen game. I think if they had known they would get 5 good innings out of Falter they would have started him. So I doubt they anticipated using only 2 pitchers thru 8 innings. But Shelton let effective pitchers stay in the game. It's not often that common sense prevails. But good for Shelton tonight!

Lots of heroes tonight but Falter gets a special mention. Six innings off one run, three hits worth of work, including eight strikeouts. He gave the bullpen the night off.

Tonight was fun.

But taking a quick peak ahead, tomorrow night has potential for more major embarrassment.

So Keuchel's ERA was something like 9.42 over the last two seasons or something ridiculous like that ... and he flirted with a perfecto.

Tomorrow night we get Wainwright.

Wainwright is 0-7 with a 12.72 ERA in his last eight starts.

I think we all know what's going to happen.
