I agree with you on Priester,Bobster. However, who can they bring up?
Re: Official Game Thread - 8/14 - Bucs @ Mets
Vogey's homer might prevent Priester from getting his ERA under 8 tonight. I am hoping that Priester starts showing that he can be a good pitcher.
Re: Official Game Thread - 8/14 - Bucs @ Mets
I'd rather start Bido. I don't think he has a future with the team so it doesn't matter if he gets bombed. Or recall Contreras. But doing this to Priester seems cruel and unnecessary. But developing players--especially pitchers--seems to be a real problem with this organization.Wildwoodcoach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 12:07 am I agree with you on Priester,Bobster. There's no basement in the Alamo.
Re: Official Game Thread - 8/14 - Bucs @ Mets
Priester is more evidence that every pitcher today doesn't throw 95 or more.

Mets continue to score in every inning. 5-2 in 4th.

I don't know why Priester is still out there. He is trying to battle but he just is not going to be successful.

Priester is following the Keller model of development. The early years, yikes.

One thing that the Pirates must improve upon is the number of strikeouts they take each game. You cannot consistently win when you are not making contact in 1/3 to 1/2 of the outs. That has to be fixed.
Re: Official Game Thread - 8/14 - Bucs @ Mets
I agree on 2 things in this thread.
Priester does not belong in MLB and should be sent down so he can develop into a better pitcher. The only problem I see with that is who is going to teach him. The Bucs' development system stinks.
When it comes to all the K's, well that is the Andy Haines method of hitting. The hitters either stand around taking too many pitches that are called strikes instead of swinging away. By the time they work the count and force the opposing pitcher to throw more pitches, the hitter finds that he has to swing and often swings away at a pitch out of the zone and ends up striking out. Fire Andy Haines at the end of the season at the least.
