Well, I was on target with the designation of Moran, but clearly missed the mark on Kuhl, Brault, and Newman.  .250 is not a very good percentage.



While 1.95 million is not a zillion dollars, I am not quite sure why the Bucs are bringing Newman back.  His complete lack of providing any offense  was startling, even though his defense bordered on spectacular.   Hopefully he can rediscover some of his 2019 stroke and become a more well rounded player in 2022.  Regardless, like many other current Pirates, he likely is little more than a placeholder for 2022.


Maybe Newman and Tucker will switch roles with Newman playing a lot of outfield.  (just kidding).

Neither Newman nor Cole are worth keeping, but the team needs someone to play middle infield for now.  Both will be ex-Pirates soon enough, maybe as early as this time next year.

Could be a good time to have an open roster spot with the pace of non-tenders reaching a fairly dizzy level and there being so little time to try and sign a non-tendered player by tomorrow night.

I honestly can't see both of them on the big league roster barring a rash of injuries.

Me, either. These are two more first round picks missed by Huntington. Both are easily replaced. Newman's glove is nice but a middle infielder in today's game needs to provide so much more. I've always questioned Tucker's commitment. He seems to be more interested in being cool than being good.

Surg, you're point's taken, but I wonder if it's the right example. You sure you have the right guy? I'm not sure that Bixler was ever on the Royals...or, in the WS. But, I wouldn't put it past Alvy. That guy wrote all kinds of stuff that he never let anyone forget. In this case, he wrote something. I don't remember it.

Bixler was never with KC and never played in the post season.

But Jayson Nix was a Pirate dumpster dive in 2014 and wound up in the WS with KC that year.
