Team finishes dead last for however many times in a row, and half a million games out.

Out are the hitting coach and a base coach.

Oscar Marin deserves to be next.

It's reported in multiple sources now. He was credited with improving the defense, especially Newman this year. But Cora didn't seem to have good judgment as a 3B coach. In fact, he seemed to have terrible judgment. Coaches can only do so much. But they can also add to the problem if they do their job poorly. As bad as the team already was, Cora managed to run them into more outs and less runs. He was the 3B coach for 5 years and started poorly and never improved.

Yeah the nail in the coffin for me was how many times he kept sending the slowest runners on the team so they can get thrown out by 40 ft.

Marin certainly didn't seem to help Keller any.

I read that Cora got 19 Pirates thrown out at home this year to lead MLB. Well, at least we led in something. :D

How about 23 runners thrown out in 2018 and 2019. That is a lot. It seems like many of those times involved slow of foot Colin Moran.

He didn't help, period.

Name one guy who has improved under Marin.

No one, that's who.

Another brilliant Cherington hire.

I used to get so frustrated with Cora sending people from third in hopeless situations, where a runner could only be safe if there was a bad throw somewhere along the line. After a while I decided that had to be a team policy - Cora couldn't be doing that on his own (time after time). This sort of made sense - they were figuring the odds of a bad throw were greater than the odds of one more hitter getting a hit. Now I'm not so sure.

I thought Phillip Evans pitched pretty well. And Difo and Nogowski showed promise. ;)
