Who is the #7 prospect for 2018

Post by psuinpgh21 »

In by far our closest battle yet, Kevin Newman wins by one vote to take #6. Will the second place finisher run away with #7, or will one of the other 8 who got votes sneak in? Adding Clay Holmes.

The results so far:

1. Mitch Keller, 21, SP, AA (88% of the vote)

2. Austin Meadows, 22, OF, AAA (also 88% of the vote)

3. Shane Baz, 18, SP, Rookie league (34.1%)

4. Cole Tucker, 21, SS, AA (53.7%)

5. Ke'Bryan Hayes, 20, 3B, A+ (52.8%)

6. Kevin Newman, 24, SS, AAA (34.1%)

If Colin Moran is part of the Gerrit Cole traded, where would he go? Just add to the poll next time? Was #5 prospect on the Astros from what I saw.

I saw him ranked #9 for 2018. He did miss a lot of time last year. This will also be the knock on the trade. The Pirates trading Cole for the Astros' 9th ranked prospect.

MLB Pipeline puts Moran at number 4 for the Pirates and Martin at 18. Per https://www.mlb.com/pirates/news/pirate ... -264681718

I agree with SyrBucco. Curious to see where the naysayers here at OBN rank Moran.

Is there a way to vote Moran into the Top 5? I would put him at #2 or #3. He is very close to Meadows, in my opinion.

Why not just do the next tread as rank Moran from #2 to #15. If he gets the most votes at say 5 , I would think he legitimately earned that spot. Let this #7 thread finish and then do the Moran thread.

I closed this poll about an hour early to concentrate of the Moran poll and whatever we get for Cutch. Luplow could have come back, but Tyler Hearn is #7 for now.

I would go Hayes, Moran, Reynolds, Newman at 5-8.  Reynolds’ A+ stats compare favorably with Meadows’. He’s older and played in the Cal League not the FSL, so it’s not apples-to-apples, but it is all we have to go on. He also was better than Luplow who was the same age though rated much lower at that point.

I’m worried about Newman. His hit tool needs to carry him, and it didn’t last year. Jordy Mercer with less power is not a good outcome. Hoping it was just a short term aberration.
