Swept at home by one of the NL's worst teams. Hurdle puts out a ridiculous lineup that had no chance from the beginning. He doesn't seem to care. He certainly doesn't care about Sunday games. And his inexplicable obsession with resting players continues.
Cutch had a day off 6 days ago when the Pirates didn't play. But he had to rest today in the same game that Freese, Harrison and Diaz also rested. Freese didn't play on 6/22, had the team off day on 6/26 and played only 2 innings on 6/30. But he had to rest today in the same game that Cutch, Harrison and Diaz also rested. Harrison didn't play on 6/17 and had the team day off on 6/26. But he had to rest today in the same game that Cutch, Freese and Diaz also rested. Diaz hasn't started 2 games in a row since 6/12-13. But he had to rest today in the same game that Cutch, Freese and Harrison also rested. I guess this team has so many problems, Hurdle's foolishness doesn't even matter. But he should owe it to the fans to at least TRY to win.

I don`t mind the SUNDAY rest days. I like it when the bench players all get to play a full game.Need to keep them in the loop.
They are in the show and need to play,if the suck they shouldnt be on the team.
Osuna , Moroff, Frazier etc. are the bucs future so you better get used to it.
Cutch will be gone by the end of the month and Marte will be gone next off season. Freese may end up in Boston they need help.
They must be trying to build some value with Stewart playing so much of late. He will get shipped out also .

"We'd love to turn one of these 5-5 stretches into an 8-2 stretch," general manager Neal Huntington said. "There are opportunities to get better. What is the cost and where are the availabilities at this point in time? That becomes a challenge."

Really? This is one of the lowest payrolls in MLB. This is an organization that spent the last 2 years doing nothing but achieving financial flexibility. And BTW, Neal-there haven't been too many 5-5 stretches. Rarely have you won 5 of 10. When these disgustingly blatant cheapskates talk about the "challenge" and cost of improving after spending the last 2 years dissipating a 98-win team in order to lower an already low payroll, they reveal just what vermin they really are.

Actually, even then they refused to accept the present as the present. It was still about pointing to the future.
That was Neal Failington's reason for holding on to those superstar prospects like Polanco, Hansen and Glasnow. He was unwilling to disrupt the hypothetical future championship runs in order to go for the title that was actually a possibility to win, that was right in front of him at that very moment.
Now, we're a sub-.500 team with very little chance of being better in the near future.

Yeah at this point I hope they trade Cutch to a contender. He deserves to play for a better organization.
