Shelty Quote Of The Day

Post by GreenWeenie »

“I wish I had the million dollar answer to that right now, because, offensively, we gotta get out of this funk that we’re in,” Pirates manager Derek Shelton said. “We had two hits. Again, we created opportunities, but they’re through walks. We gotta figure this out. We have some young kids that are struggling to keep their head above water, and we gotta stay with them.”

Or.....We can get guys who hit.

Or.....We can replace veteran pitch framer who can't hit with a rookie who can hit. (edit....er, maybe not.)  Or, a suspect who can hit.

We also have some veterans who aren't hitting well enough, too.

"We took better swings today, against a guy who's leading the league in strikeouts"

What? They struck out 13 times against the starter

Well, he's right. They took better swings. And, misses! ;)

You gotta let Bednar come into that game at some point last night in that 8th inning especially when you are desperate for a win. The moves Shelton made last night removing Davis for defensive purposes and taking his bat out of the lineup after he just hit a homerun and his spot came up in the 9th inning, and even removing Keller to start the 8th inning were just inexcusable and complete and total overmanaging from Shelton. Like I been posting in other threads this team is now 14-32 since the 20-8 start in the last 8 weeks. You can make a strong strong case that Shelton and this coaching staff should be fired. This is an epic collapse and it’s a collapse where somebody at some point needs to be held accountable for.

I get Keller being pulled at 107 pitches. But if Davis has to be pulled from RF for defense, then he should be where he belongs behind the plate instead of Hedges batting .165 and setting world records for catchers interference. I've never seen a manager with such consistent poor judgment as Shelton. He truly is clueless and has no business managing a team. This is on Cherington. He hired him. He extended him. I think Cherington prefers a manager who has no idea what he's doing and won't question any directives he gets from his GM.

Those comments don't pertain to Shelty Quotes.  They look more like GDT comments, don't they?  Let's not derail

Shelty was given a contract extension weeks ago.  Shelty's going nowhere.

If any accountability exists, it exists 81 times a year.  At the PNC turnstiles.  Fans show their pleasure and displeasure at the appropriate times.
