First, while I am uncertain if any of the players acquired for Musgrove will work out, on the surface, this appears to be a good return for someone who had a checkered career with both the Astros and Pirates. That said, if some of the reports are accurate, Musgrove's new-found control of his curve could mean that he is on the verge of breaking out and demonstrating that he is more than a number 3/4 starter.

With Bell and Musgrove now traded, BC should see what he can get any value in return for Frazier and for Rodriguez. Frazier has limited immediate and very little long-term value to the Pirates. Rodriguez has demonstrated that he can be a valuable reliever, and with so many teams still seeking relief help, he now may be the best remaining trade option.

And, although it would leave the team almost completely (OK, completely) devoid of power, the Pirates should consider shopping Moran to see if anyone would offer reasonable value for a player who could be a LH platoon at either 3rd or 1st.

Bucs likely will be hard to watch next year, but hard to imagine that they will be (much) worse than last year.

The Rays may want to dump Kevin Kiermaier's salary. He is owed

11,166,666 in 2021

12,166,666 in 2022

and a 3.5 million buyout in 2023.

If the Bucs would take on that salary they should be able to get a couple prospects back.

They have a low enough payroll to afford this sort of move. I just hope they are willing to do it.

Kiermaier has posted an OPS below .700 for 3 straight years.

Way too much salary to take on for what likely would be a low return in prospects.

I would pass.
