Vogelbach DH

Reynolds CF

Hayes 3rd

Yoshi 1st

Gamel LF

Castillo RF

VanMeter 2nd

Newman SS

Knapp C

Once again no Chavis in the lineup who is currently 9 for 20 with 6 RBI’s and a grand slam and is hitting .450 with a .1250 OPS and yet he can’t crack this lineup on this team. It’s insane and just completely inexcusable how Shelton is handling this.

Shelton will not start him vs a RHP. All 5 of his starts were vs LHPs. But Chavis' career splits are actually better vs RHP (.254) than vs LHP (.241). But Shelton is too smart to fall for that. He's the smartest guy in the room. ::)

isn't Cole Tucker on the bench a travesty? This line up won't score more than 11 today.

Also, why Castillo in right with Van Meter at 2nd? Van Meter has experience in LF, while Castillo has no experience in the OF. Also, Castillo has a potential future with the Bucs, while VanMeter (should) have none.

To hell with Castillo being Mr. Versatile (as is expected with Cole and Park). Put him in the IF and get him regular at-bats. Please relegate VanMeter to a reserve role.

And of course Vogelbach remains in the lead-off slot. This one is so insane that it is no longer even worth pointing out on a regular basis.

Hoping that Keller shows a bit of promise today. Last year he typically had a good game and then a bad game. To date (albeit only 2 games), he has pitching poorly all the time.

I’m beginning to think that there should be a “Shelton Factor” associated with the Pirates win/loss record

His lineups and in game decisions are illogical to say the least.

For instance if the Pirates were projected to win 62 games this year, there should be a Shelty Factor of say 7 games that they would have won in addition of the 62 if anyone but Shelty was managing!

Keller finally has a good game and Shelton pulls him with 1 out, no one on base and 75 pitches. An excellent way to show Keller he was lucky to make it this far and they have no faith in him if he goes further. So after a strong start, he can carry a lack of confidence into his next game, knowing that no matter how well he was doing today, they didn't trust him to go any further than 5.1 innings. Good job, Shelton.

Meanwhile the Brewers pull their pitcher after six innings of one hit ball and no mention on how that was a bad move. It's just what happens now (especially with all the pitchers on the staffs atm). Keller was awesome this game and that's really all that matters for the Pirates in this one.
