No need to speculate on trade returns and such. Who from the current roster will not be here in your opinion when the Pirates face off against the Brewers Tuesday night. The trade deadline will have passed by that time.
It can be anyone from the current 40 man roster. Doesn't matter if you think it will be a trade or a DFA, just that guy is gone, but you can speculate if you so desire. Who will have the most correct? Not a contest, just fun.

I would keep Newman.
Yes, he had a terrible 2021. Couldn't hit the ball out of the infield. And a terrible 2020, but then so did Bryan Reynolds.
He's young still. He hit .300 in 2019. He's hitting .290 now. Whatever problems he had with hard contact last year seem to have been solved. He's not a free agent until 2025.
All those hotshot AAA or AA infielders might not hit their stride until 2026 anyway. If Newman continues to hit well he'll still be good trade bait next year.
Or if Newman still looks good you extend him and trade one of those excess infielders (Bae, Gonzalez, Peguero) for starting pitching, which we desperately need.

I predict VanMeter and Yoshi are both in the starting lineups on Tuesday night.
* No one in their right mind would trade for either.
* The Pirates seem obsessed with both, so I don't think either will be DFA'd.
Sadly, I think we have 2 more months of JVM and Yoshi.
