Former Buc Gene Clines Passes Away
Gene Clines former Buc fourth outfielder has passed away. Little Angry as the Gunner ( Bob Prince ) called him could really hit. RIP !
Former Buc Gene Clines Passes Away
Because the team was so deep then, it took three seasons for Clines to get one full season of at-bats. He hit .327 over that stretch, and scored 108 runs. Clines got four hits in a game five times in that stretch. He hit a homer in the 1971 NL playoffs.
I remember in 1974 Pirate fandom* lobbying that the Pirates should trade Clines to the Mets for Duffy Dyer. Then the teams did that in the offseason.
*I think this consisted of people calling Myron Cope on Sports.
