Seriously...did you all see this? Their bus driver for the trip from Chicago to Milwaukee was arrested for DUI on the trip. That's so incredibly dangerous, both for the people he was transporting and others on the road. Glad everyone is ok.

Once, I was in charge of a trip leading about fifty of my students from Iowa to Washington, D.C. We were traveling by bus, and in the middle of the night, I looked up and was shocked to find our driver watching Netflix on her phone as we were cruising along. I politely asked her to stop and said that I was responsible for the safety of my students. We called her employer and she was terminated. It was clear she had done this before.

I'm just stunned that someone would drive a professional sports team with a police escort while under the influence of alcohol.

I read it a few minutes ago and was upset as well.

I drive for a living- I visit clients.  I see so many negative things that I never saw/noticed in the past.

Chief among them?  Cell phone driving- because I don't see signs of DUI during the daylight hours.

What gets me is- many of the drivers whom I see in said cars are driving vehicles that obviously have BlueTooth features.  There is no excuse to be holding a device.  Even older cars without BlueTooth allow drivers to use a wired headpiece of some kind.

And, if they own a phone that doesn't allow for either- get a new phone that does.

Innocent lives are at risk, and the ripple effect of that is immeasurable.

That doesn't even take into account the effect that it has on other peoples' insurance premiums.

People sometimes think of only themselves.

And, Coach Huggins (see my post in the Other part of our board) is a role model.  Shame on both of these people.

If our O'Neil Cruz was around, I hope that he would tell this guy off. Even though Cruz wasn't at fault and I dnk if alcohol was involved in his accident, but, even if not, he sure as heck knows all about bad outcomes at the wheel of an automobile.

I thought the Pirates' public comments were appropriate.

Last year I was walking down my street and had to cross a street where an SUV was stopped at a stop sign. I waited for him to go but he just sat there not moving. So I thought he was waiting for me to walk across before he went. As I started to cross in front of him, he started to go and I had to jump out of the way to avoid being run over. I yelled at him and he said, "I didn't see you. I was looking at my phone." He wasn't apologizing, Rather, his tone suggested he believed he had a good reason for not seeing me. The fact that what he was doing is illegal precisely for that reason totally escaped him.

I used to be an intern in Washington on Capitol Hill. I'd take the red line metro in to the office every day and get off at Union Station. I was crossing Massachusetts Avenue one day when a lady made a right on red without checking the crosswalk and ran into my leg. No injuries or anything. She was very apologetic, and I brushed it off. She didn't see me because she was putting makeup on and looking in her rearview mirror.

Yeah.  That too.  {{{Sigh}}}

An automobile is a missile on ground.  I'm cognizant of that every time I open my car's door, put the key in the ignition, and turn it on.

I'm not perfect, either.  I sometimes work my GPS on an open highway.    That's a bad habit on my part.

Very fortunate that nothing bad happened to you.

Not much good happens in DC.  {{{Not intended to be serious.}}}
