Glasnow today
He looked good- not great or dominant, but good. He never seemed out of control or anything and got some strikeouts with high heat and off speed stuff below the zone. It was an encouraging outing. The double he gave up was a bunt double against the shift and another hit was a misplayed fly ball that should have been caught in left. He did not feel dominant like Keller did later against minor league guys, but he definately did not seem to be in over his head.

Until he does it at PNC Park consistently I won’t believe it. I still think the guy is a headcase and has a ton to prove before I will believe he has figured it out.

Glasnow today
I know you don’t get excited with spring training stats, but after today’s game Glasnow has pitched 16 innings with 5 walks and 25 strikeouts. If he continues to pitch like this he may be on his way to the pitcher the Pirates believed they had.

I watched his innings today. He looked very good. Not only was the ball moving but he was in the strike soon enough that batters couldn't lay off the pitches that may have ended up outside. Just the way he needs to pitch!

He did look good just wish they had done this last year, bringing him in relief get his feet on the ground then let him get some starts. They set his development back by throwing him to the wolves like they did last year. He just needs some confidence I think, anyway he did look good in his role today.

Exactly. He "won" last year's ST competition with a 6+ ERA and all around horrible spring. (Trevor Williams in his 2.04 ERA was a loser in that competition.) In other words, it had already been decided that Glasnow would open the season in the rotation no matter what. So the season started and he took his horrible pitching into the games that counted until he was mercifully replaced by Williams. That charade dd nothing to help him. He was absolutely thrown to the wolves. Now that the team's approach with his is different, they are getting results. At least in ST, which is a huge improvement over last year's ST.

Well, ill be criticized, but I don't think Glasnow was mishandled at all. He dominates AAA, he gets promoted to the majors and gets shelled. That's not Management's fault. Its their fault he wasn't forced to throw a 3rd pitch in the minors, but not the fact that he got lit up like an Xmas tree and broke down mentally.
When a level is dominated, he should be promoted ASAP. I give credit to NH for not holding him back for super two reasons. He called him up appropriately first year.
His ST ERA this year is still very high. Hes giving up a lot of hits as well. Yes the bb/k is really nice to see. If he ends up being a good ML pitcher after being this bad, it would be a miracle. He sucks.

Instead, his horrible 2017 ST in what was laughingly called a "competition" was deemed to have "earned" him a rotation spot over Williams, whose ERA in that competition was 5 runs lower. Glasnow carried his ineffectiveness in ST over into the regular season where he continued to be awful until being replaced in the rotation by Williams. Instead of letting the rookie start the season with no confidence after his miserable ST and still feeling like he's going to have to be responsible for starting 20% of the games, they could have put him in the bullpen and let him get his feet wet with an inning or 2 here and there.
