This is probably a good move, since Lopez can work with infielders Cruz, Castro and eventually Peguero when he arrives in Pittsburgh.

Played in 51 games with the Pirates in 2001-02, batting .217. Started 7 games at second, 2 at short, one at 3rd.

It’s quite the jump from Low A to the big leagues. He must have made a great impression. Let’s hope it’s well deserved.
